Groups

You can learn more about Pittsburgh improv groups by visiting their official webpages linked to the right.

Long form improvisation is a more scene-based, character driven narrative that relies on storytelling during the shows. You can see long form in Pittsburgh at a Hustlebot show.

Short form improvisation is the most widely known style of improv, popularized by the television show Whose Line is It Anyway? This short form style of improv relies on games and more audience participation. You can see short form at Amish Monkeys, the Cellar Dwellers and Irony City shows.

There are also several troupes in many of the colleges in the Pittsburgh area. These groups often have workshops and open shows on their respective campuses. It is a great place to learn the basics of learning games, building improv scenes, and experimenting with the different forms. You can see more at CMU's No Parking Players, Point Park's Not Quite There Improv, or Pitt's Friday Nite Improvs.
